We understand that visiting a new church for the first time can be overwhelming. We'll try to answer all the stressful questions here. If there's something we didn't cover, you can email us at firstname.lastname@example.org
When does the service start?
Our Worship Gathering is at 10:00AM on Sundays. We also have Connection Point, which is a time of donuts, coffee, and getting to know one another. That starts at 9:30AM.
What will the Worship Gathering look like?
We typically start right at 10AM with a worship song. Our service will last about 75 minutes. After the opening song, we'll have announcements and a time for prayer. Then we'll sing a few more worship songs and listen to Pastor Jake bring a message.
What kinds of people will be there?
We have quite a mixture of people at FBC. You'll find newborns, retired folks, students, working professionals, and everyone in between! Some of us are married, single, divorced, or widowed. A bunch of us are new to the area, and many of us have lived here awhile. Everyone is welcome; we hope you'll fit right in!
What kind of music do you sing?
Our worship team leads us in songs to remind us of who God is and what He has done through Jesus. We'll sing songs from centuries ago and from just last week. Sometimes we'll use a drum kit and sometimes it's just piano. We even have guest appearances of ukuleles and trumpets at times.
We'll always project the lyrics onto a screen so you can easily sing along. If you don't feel like singing, you can just listen and absorb the words.
What should I wear?
Whatever you'd wear anywhere else! You can wear a t-shirt, flip flops, a three-piece suit, or all of the above! Some people wear their "Sunday best", but you'll likely see people in casual clothes--like jeans or cargo shorts. We welcome you to come just as you are.
What should I bring with me?
You can just bring yourself! You could bring a friend if you want. If you have a Bible, you can definitely bring it. If you don't have a Bible, you can always download a free Bible app on your mobile device. We typically read from the ESV, which you can find at www.esv.org/mobile/. If you don't bring a Bible, we also project all the verses onto the screen. If you don't have a Bible, we invite you to grab one from under the chair in front of you and take it home with you. It's our gift to you!
Can I bring my kids?
Absolutely! We have lots of kids at FBC! They are welcome to sit with you in the Worship Center or join us in "The Backyard." The Backyard is for kids up to 4th grade who want to learn about and celebrate God's love for them by exploring the most famous book ever! Kids, ages 0-grade 4, will be dismissed during the Connection Break, around 10:15AM. All children must be checked in by an adult at The Backyard desk.
Can I take communion?
We believe in open communion--that means that anyone who believes in Jesus Christ as their personal Savior is welcome to take communion, whether they are a church member or not.
