Jake Anderson

Lead Pastor/Shepherd

jakea@fbcpillager.com

Jake is the blessed husband of Juliane (married 20 years) and the proud father of four growing boys. He and Juliane love the local church and count it a privilege to serve with God on His mission. They have a heart for ministering to young families who are learning how to follow Jesus. Jake specifically enjoys working with young dads and encouraging them in the task of leading and serving their families.

Jake holds a Bachelor of Arts in Communication with a minor in Music from Bethel University. He also holds a Master of Arts Degree in Leadership from Luther Rice University and a Master of Divinity Degree from Luther Rice University.

Jake has served as a Worship Pastor, an Associate Pastor and most recently as a Lead Pastor/Church Planter. He has learned many lessons about life, leadership and ministry while starting a church from scratch.

He is passionate about exponential discipleship (making disciples who make disciples). Jake also has a compassionate heart to counsel and walk alongside leaders as they grow.

Much of Jake’s gifting lies in understanding and engaging the hearts of people by God’s Spirit. He loves the study of preaching (homiletics) and has worked with young preachers to help them understand Biblical exposition. Over the last 3 years Jake has traveled to Central Asia and the Middle East to teach and encourage ministry leaders and new believers.

Jake's heart is to see disciples made in gospel-centered communities as they serve on the mission of God together.

In his free time he enjoys spending time with his kids, running, lifting weights, coaching, reading, playing softball and golfing.

Jesse Hooge
Elder Shepherd in Training
jesseh@fbcpillager.com

I am married to Sara Hooge and have four boys: Jakeb, Christian, Joshua and Caleb.  We moved to the Pillager area in September of 2018.  I am humbled at being called to be an Elder Shepherd in training, and thankful for the wonderful church family God has brought us to.  I feel our purpose as God's children is to be ready for His call and with a willing heart share the gospel truth in all circumstances.  As this truth is shared, and we move forward in faith, heart transformations will take place.

It is humbling to serve as an Elder Shepherd.  I have discovered the value and design of a plurality in leadership; through scripture, we are working together to seek Christ and His will for us.  We hold one another accountable for the care of His Church and interpretation of His Word.  We are always considering our purpose: that we exist to love, serve and proclaim, so that Jesus may be known and followed.  I am excited to nurture this purpose!

I am thrilled to be a part of the leadership team for worship at FBC.  Worshipping our great God through music is one of my greatest joys, and it is an honor to serve our church in this way.  I have a minor in Church Music and a Bachelor’s degree in Elementary Education from Dordt University, and have been an active part of worship teams since I was 14 years old.  I am also a 4th grade teacher at Lake Region Christian School. My husband Darren and I have 4 wonderful children who also enjoy making music.  My passion is to point our hearts to Jesus, on Sunday mornings through lifting our voices and instruments in song, as well as every day, glorifying and worshipping Him in all we do.

I am married to Stephanie and we have been blessed with four wonderful boys: Gabe, Drew, Luke, and Sam. I am now working at Up North Eye Care and love working as a team with my wife at the clinic.  I believe that we are called to bring the message of the gospel to everyone regardless of our job or circumstances. Our free time consists of Wrestlemania, board games, and nerf gun battles. I am honored to serve at FBC!

It is a joy to serve the children and families of FBC through Children's Ministry! My husband Grant and I live in Pillager with our two babies (twins). I hold a degree in Child and Family Psychology and come from a background in youth development, serving children of all ages in a variety of faith-based, educational and recreational settings. My passion is to see children come to know and love Jesus while discovering a strong foundation for their faith in His word. It is a privilege to serve alongside others with a shared passion, seeking the Lord's heart for the discipleship of our youngest church attendees.

I am married to Shannon and we have three girls: Summer, Brecken, and Ellie.  I grew up attending a Baptist church that was part of the Converge Conference.  I loved youth group and spending my summers attending and working at a Christian camp in northern Minnesota.  It wasn’t until recently that I became involved in missions.  In the summer of 2013, I had the opportunity to go on a short term mission trip to Poland to help run an English Camp.  My eyes were opened to the needs around the world, and I have since been on two trips to inner city Detroit and another trip to Poland.  I hope to serve the missionaries we support by communicating their needs with our church and coordinating short-term teams to join them in their work, hopefully raising others up to follow in their footsteps.

Juliane Anderson
Worship Director
julianea@fbcpillager.com

I hold a music minor degree, as well as a Bachelor's of Science degree in Nursing from Bethel University. I have been teaching private music lessons, serving in music ministry, leading, directing, and coordinating worship teams for the past 20 years. I enjoy working with others to discover their passion and gifts of music to serve and praise the LORD.  I desire worship to be transformational, to go beyond the Sunday morning service and be ingrained in our everyday lives.  As you serve, you’ll notice I also like to have fun together, building team unity while we grow deeper in our understanding of what it means to lead worship and to praise the LORD in all things. If you are interested in serving on our teams please contact me!  We’d love for you to join our worship team.

I am humbled to be a part of the Shepherds in Training.  The Church is the hope for the world and I believe that God is stirring peoples hearts to be on God's mission here.  I desire to be a part of encouraging, protecting and helping this church, myself included, to go and make disciples.
